| Photographed at Lake Cave, in the Margaret River region of Western Australia at 10.30am on Sunday 22nd March 1998. Free Time Shoot. Location Notes: Lake Cave is a small but spectacular cave in the Margaret River region, in the extreme SW corner of Western Australia. This region is best known internationally for its wineries, but is also famous for the quality of its surfing beaches, tall timber forests and caves. Shoot Notes: This beautiful reflecting pool is at the deepest end of Lake Cave, and is viewed here from the rear viewing platform. With changes in the cave lighting, the island in the middle of the pool casts shadows across the walls in which many wonderful and fantastic shapes can be seen. The Wishing Well is situated across from the island, near where the stairs climb over the rise. The water is crystal-clear and sweet, constantly replenished by a small underground stream which runs through the cave and re-emerges from deep underground as a small freshwater spring at nearby Conto's Beach. Acknowledgements: Many thanks to CaveWorks for their permission to shoot within the area, and for the assistance and support of the cave guides during the shoot. Thanks also to Robert Frith of Acorn Photgraphics, for the generous loan of his rectilinear lens for the weekend. Technical details: Shot on a Canon EOS 620 using Kodacolor Gold III 400 ASA film and a 17-35mm rectilinear zoom lens set at 24mm. Camera attached to a custom pano head on a Manfrotto Triminor tripod. |
