Under Canning Bridge,
November 1999

The Location: Under Canning Bridge, at Applecross, Western Australia. The repetitive vertical elements with the incised Roman numerals provide a contrast to the natural elements of the water lapping beneath and the ripples in the sand.

Tech Notes: Two sets of 12 shots were taken, one set exposed for the shadows and the other set exposed for the sky and water beyond the bridge. The camera was mounted on a Kaidan QuickPan Magnum tripod head, which provided for easy adjustment of the nodal position, allowed simple levelling and used click stops to suit the focal length being used. Because the Tamron 14mm lens was used, only twelve shots were needed to cover the full 360 degrees with the camera in portrait position. This allowed about 50% overlap between shots. Each set of 12 shots was "stitched" together, then the two scenes were composited to give the result as shown.
