| Hauling up the Foresail Yard. View from under the Forecastle. 26th March, 2000. From under the forecastle, looking east into the morning sun as the Duyfken begins her westerly run, crew and passengers are hauling on the ropes to raise the yard for the foresail. The pulley and rope system used for this is called the Halyard (Haul Yard). Spare ropes, a barrel, and large blue-and-white inflatable fenders for when the ship moors at the dock are stored under the forecastle.
