A hessian sail shades the shipwrights from the bright Australian summer sun. As you pan around, you can see a fine view of this area of Fremantle, particularly of the Maritime Museum, with glimpses of the Indian Ocean beyond. A last remnant of the shed below us shelters the sculptors working tirelessly to finish the decorative carvings which will complete the Duyfken and add to her character. Figures of mythical sea creatures and beings, and the Arms of the City of Fremantle will put the finishing touches to this proud vessel.
