| A Bonnie Fairy This portrait was created from photographs I took of Bonnie and of some Red Flowering Gum blossoms. I composited and overpainted the original images in Painter 4, and then used the resulting image as a clone source. From this clone source, I used different brush variants to paint into a new version of the image, creating a more textured, 'natural-media' digital painting. Bristly variants of the Ultrafine Wash Brush were used to paint brush-textured details into the foreground flowers and her hair, and various sizes of Artist's Pastels were used for the background and her face: large to give soft, grainy areas of background colour with paper texture; and small to give a smooth, blended rendition of her fine features. As a final touch, I masked the central areas and used "Apply Surface Texture Using Image Luminance" to develop more textured detail in the flower stamens, and applied Lighting Effects to enhance the center of the image and create a greater sense of depth and intimacy. |
